  • 2 lbs fresh collard greens cleaned & chopped
  • 1 lb smoked turkey wings legs, or drumettes
  • 1 –2 cups shredded smoked turkey added later
  • Seasonings
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 –2 tsp red chili flakes to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt adjust to taste
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube or 1 tbsp bouillon powder
  • 1 –2 tbsp sugar optional, reduces bitterness
  • Liquids
  • 6 –7 cups water or chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar optional

Method
 

1️⃣ Start the Pot
    In a large Dutch oven, add smoked turkey pieces…
      2️⃣ Add the Collard Greens
        Add chopped collards a handful at a time…
          3️⃣ Simmer Low & Slow
            Cover the pot and cook on medium-low for 1–1.5 hours…
              4️⃣ Add Shredded Turkey
                About 20 minutes before the greens are done…
                  5️⃣ Serve
                    Serve hot with cornbread, fried chicken, baked mac & cheese, sweet potato pie.

                      1. Add chopped collards a handful at a time.
                      2. Stir until they begin to wilt and can all fit into the pot.
                      3. Add:
                        • Black pepper
                        • Red chili flakes
                        • Garlic powder
                        • Onion powder
                        • Seasoned salt
                        • Sugar (optional)
                      4. Add apple cider vinegar if using.

                      3️⃣ Simmer Low & Slow
